    1. This doesn’t work with iPhone 3Gs. It will sync with Bluetooth, but does not appear in list of available devices. 2. There is no tech support either by phone or by the website. 3. You are out of luck if you fall into the 1,2 previous points. Had to return to Amazon. Make sure you keep all you packing materials if you order this thing.

The product description on this page is misleading. The first paragraph is for a different product: the BAG-10. That is not what this is. Thus, the bit about being able to charge the device does not apply. This thing does not work if it’s not plugged in (to the car or the wall).

If that was the only problem, I would have been ok with it. But this device does not work if I also have a bluetooth headset turned on, or if the hands-free bluetooth of my car is turned on. It doesn’t matter if I’m talking on the headset — it just has to be turned on and in range, and then the BAR-10 does not work. So, you have to choose: you either get hands-free phone capability, or you get to stream your music to the BAR-10. I’m choosing hands-free phone capability, and so the BAR-10 is being returned.

Lastly, Anycom’s customer support is pathetic. Anycom’s web site directs you to a customer support internet forum for the product. The ONLY time any questions have been answered by Anycom (or by anyone else) was May 14, 2008. No answers before or after that date.

Having said all that, the BAR-10 actually works really well if you are ok with having to plug it in all the time, and if you don’t need to use it simultaneously with another bluetooth device. It sounded good with my car stereo during the short amount of test time I gave it.

This device does not work with iPhone 3.0 OS. Pairs with phone but not recognized as an audio device capable of receiving audio stream.

The Anycom BAR-10 did exactly what it was suppose to. It was easy to setup and worked right out of the box. I was able to quickly mate my blackberry pearl to the BAR-10 and then stream music to the AUX input of my car. The sound is great, there is no distortion or interference. The only comments I would have would be ergonomic only:

    1) The could have made the output of the BAR10 a single audio jack instead of the L/R RCA plugs to make it less bulky

    2) Some sort of indicator lite to show that it is working. I had an issue a week after the install that I could not stream anymore and I could not tell where the problem was (i could not even tell if the BAR10 was on) since it was failing with my home stereo as well. Turns out that there was a problem with my Pearl and its BT service…once i pulled the battery of the Pearl and rebooted, it worked just fine.

  6. After a few years of mediocre experience using various bluetooth products, I wasn’t expecting much from more recent music-audio based devices. But I think that’s changing, either because of this company (Anycom) or because of Bluetooth 2.0 EDR (Enhanced Data Rate)

I currenty have the above device (BAR-10), an Anycom FIPO (which plugs into iPod-based speaker systems) and a Sony BT adapter for an iPod. I also have a Samsung Q1 UMPC that is kind of my ‘Super iPod’. All of these things support EDR (or are listed as having 20-20,000Hz frequency response) and work together quite nicely.

The BAR-10 is always in pairing mode, so there’s never any link-up hassles. The best part is that the audio sounds very good.

I would recommend any Bluetooth 2.0 EDR product from Anycom and will be getting another BAR-10 soon.

  7. While I like a physical keyboard, after coping with the Samsung Captivate for roughly quarter-hour, it’s hard to go back. Presently I am debating whether or not to visit Verizon for the Droid X, cross to Dash for the EVO, or stay with AT&T for the Captivate…choices, decisions.
